Of course animals deserve rights. Its absolutely absurd to me that it is not illegal to kill an animal and that people every single day torment and torture such innocent and beautiful creatures. For the record, I am no animal lover by any means, nor do I own a pet but hearing and seeing stories of people training dogs to fight to the death makes me absolutely sick. Animals do have feelings and should 100% be protected by rights. No animal, despite there nature or ferocity should ever be mistreated like many animals today are.

Hmmm.. This is a sensitive subject for me, although I have been a practicing vegan for the past six years, I truly find it disturbing what is happening in the world lately. Several states are granting person-hood to a wide range of animals , for all the right reasons of course, but at the same time, there are millions of people in the world right now without any state and millions without person-hood. How is it that in the modern age we are discussing and contemplating granting more protection and rights for animals through person-hood , yet we are ignoring millions of people in the world with no basic rights? Maybe I am committing some type of fallacy in my response ( I am new to philosophy ) but i couldn't objectively answer any other way. Grant rights to HUMANS before animals. Protect HUMANS before animals.

Animals rights is a very questionable issue, because its aspects are very broad. The question is not about being vegan or not, however it is important not to go to any extreme, and be either obsessed vegan, lacking good nutrition and trying to recover with food supplements, nor careless gourmet having only a piece of a stake and let go to waste something that shouldn't be wasted that easily.
Animals rights are not only about abusing pets after a stressful day and letting go the aggression. And its not even about creating funds to support bengal tigers.
First of all, animals rights is a fundamental natural coexistence of humans and animals. We all live and share one planet, and with having conscious humans also have responsibilities to arrange that peaceful coexistence. This is an essential background of animals rights. They do deserve rights to live in a natural healthy environment not less than humans do.
The rest should be considered with a healthy mind, and common sense, it is impossible to make everyone vegan nor control the pet maltreatment in each household, however it is definitely human's responsibility to do everything in order to keep the planet violence-free.

Animal rights is a subject that is being on TV these last years. It's kind of a broad subject. Killing an animal to consume it is totally different from abusing an animal until that animal died.In general, have nothing against animals; I love some, not all of them. I hate reptiles; I would not let one survive if it cross my path and I have the occasion to end its life.I love animals that are proven useful to humans, like dogs and dolphins. I am in favor of animal rights. I have seen a commercial on TV which is about the tigress race that is diminishing every year, and one way to prevent this phenomen is for people to adopt them. Tigers eat people, I would not bring home one to my family; those animals should not be hungry, otherwise, they will eat any meat that cross their paths. Tiger is an animal that do not care about, but I would not kill it. God created the animals to enjoy life just like us, they have flesh and blood running through their veins. I'm not a vegan, I'm a meat eater. I don't try to know what was it like for an animal before it ends up in my plate, otherwise, I would never eat meat. No animals should be abused, they all have rights to live. That's my point of view.

I believe animals should have rights. I am not a vegetarian or a vegan and I do love meat, chicken and fish. I am not going to say that every time I eat a meal I think about the animals death but when I do it makes me feel horrible. I always place myself in the animals shoes and it makes me want to become a vegetarian. Animals, although we consider them lower than us, they have feelings just like we do. Even though I eat animals I still love them, it is very ironic that I eat animals that I love. I would love for animals to have rights because those billions of animals getting tortured and killed is just horrible. Animals should not necessarily be treated like we do, but they should have their rights that permits them into having a life too. In other words, I am completely in favor of animal rights even though I love meat.

I respectably eat meat on a day-to-day basis; however I do believe that animals do pertain to have rights. I have realized that when I consume meat I don’t think about the aspects of how and where this specie has been raised before it was killed. If I got into depth about how animals are slaughtered it makes me feel disgusted and confused at why I am eating it in the first place. In fact unless I am the one to raise the animal and hunt them down myself, I will never be sure to answer those questions confidentially. After reading about this informative issue, I have questioned many of the ways we treat our animals (domestic and wild). I also believe animal rights go beyond their existence but brings me curiosity to why we are wearing them and testing human products on them as well. All these torturous behaviors are happening to defenseless creatures behind closed doors, where no one can be sure of what is happening. I only know what they put on the labels of packages, basically leaving me in the dark. I am sure I am not the only person that believes animals should have rights but the problem would be how we would go about doing so? And who would we pronounce this issue with? Since most people eat meat for the taste or nutritional purposes. There would be a lot of procedures but animals deserve their rights.

Do animals deserve rights? Of course they do! Anyone who thinks otherwise is sadistic and stupid. Animals were here long before we were and it’s ridiculous to treat them as anything less than neighborly, for they are our neighbors. They are sentient beings and feel just as much as we do. If we were hit with a brick I’m pretty sure we would scream our heads off. If an animal was hit with a brick they’d scream too but in their own language. If some animals are good enough to be pets, your best friend, your comfort buddy shouldn’t you treat them as just? Humans think to forget that we are animals and are a part of the animal kingdom. –Marithza Bain

I like meat, fur, leather I can’t deny it. However, even thou I enjoy all of those things I believe animals deserve rights. For example, killing an animal just to have its fur I think its wrong, animals are not here to make us look fashionable. When it comes to killing an animal for the sake of “surviving”, and a put it in quote because we can survive by eating other things, I think its okay. However, the animal should be killed with mercy, it should not be made to suffer if its not necessary. Animals should be able to enjoy, at least, the life they have even if it’s going to be killed to eat at the end. In addition, we should never mistreat animals just because we have the power to do it. It is important to make a clear division between animal rights and human rights. Animal rights should not be above our own rights but that doesn’t mean that they have to be completely disregarded. I would like to add that I find completely absurd to claim that some animals are violent and evil when they kill a human. For what we know, we say that animals do not have conscience; therefore they cannot control their actions. How can we say that just because an animal follows its impulses its putting us in danger when we actively kill animals for any cause, even more despicable is the “art” of killing animals as a sport or hobby.

Do animal deserve rights? I absolutely believe that they full do. I believe eating animals is one of our ways to survive as humans, but I do not agree with behaviors like Mike Vick and the dog rings. Animal cruelty in my opinion should have greater punishment in our justice system. I am a meat eater, I do have a lot of friends who hunt (they eat what they kill). I recently told someone that in my opinion they have no right to hunt boar, because they are Jewish and do not eat the meat. He let that meat go to complete waste. His argument was that this area is over populated by these aggressive boars, and that these boars are over taking this land. I do understand his argument, but I personally would never be able to do such an action. I do not agree with testing items on them, for example: shampoo. To me, testing beauty products on animals is outrageous! With my next statement- I will come off as a hypocrite. I do understand why medical research does test on animals. Yes, it a horrible to think about, but we do need to worry about us humans first. I am sorry to say it, but if testing on a mouse, to save a life of a human- test on the mouse.

I believe that animals should have rights when pertaining to animals being abused or being used for fighting. There is no purpose when having roosters, dogs, bulls, or any animal, fighting for money. Now, I think that meat for consumption not only has been accepted, but it is a part of life, and serves a purpose. For example, in Nicaragua, during Easter, they have a huge charity event in which people donate money to feed hundreds of poor people. The creators of the event have hunters go out and hunt for meat, in which they kill in order to feed these poor people. Sure, they can just give the people rice and vegetables, however, meat is known to be an essential source of protein. I am a meat eater, and I am also an animal lover. I believe that if anything is being used for a good cause, at any cost then it is appropriate. I do not however, agree with allowing animal fighting to occur for some sort of sick pleasure or greed. It is wrong and inhumane.

Animals are one of the most amazing living creatures in this world and to question whether or not they should have rights is very disappointing because to me it is like asking if humans deserve rights, therefore; animals obviously deserve them as well. I will not oppose to the fact that this is a very delicate and controversial topic since not everyone thinks the same way and we all have different points of view, but it takes a very close-minded person to say that animals do not have feelings, hence; they should be killed. Animals should have relevant rights like the right to live (freedom from bodily harm and death) liberty (not to be caged or chained or otherwise kept as property) and the pursuit of happiness (freedom to pursue natural behaviors).

Do animals deserve rights? What kind of question is that? Of course they do! They are living creature just as we are. So why should they be treated any less than us? They have beating hearts and have the ability to feel pain as we do. Just because they are unable to speak our language and say “ouch” doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. It is not right on how mankind treats farm animals, they should be able to roam free and be able to feel joy. The way these animals are raised and killed is sickening! Imagine giants exist and they feed off humans, would you want to be brought into this world in a cramped space and fed until you couldn’t move? Then taken to a slaughter house and killed in the most horrific ways. Don’t say that we are any different than animals because if you were born in there, your mind would be as good as a baby’s; unable to speak and communicate in anyway. Therefore, hell yeah! Animals should have some kind of rights, I understand the circle of life, but the way we treat animals now is just not right.

I believe animals do deserve rights. Animals may not be able to reason and arent human but, they still feel pain and are still able to display effection making them just as much alive as we are.

Do animals deserve right? Do humans deserve rights? Well the answer is yes to both. Animals should have as many rights as we humans. It is not about becoming a vegetarian or a vegan, but to give the animals the respect they deserve, animals should have the right to be free of cruelty and human exploitation. Watching the video about the child explaining to his mother why we should eat animals was an eye opener. How can someone as young as that child be so conscious about such a subject? We need to learn to treat animals with respect.

I think an animal should be left where they belong; they should be free running around the planet like the old days. I believe no animal deserves to be in a cage where it cannot defend itself and it is at the mercy of someone who only want to make profit out of it.
I love to eat meat but I do not think animals should go thru so much pain. As the kid say we are supposed to protect animals not eat them. if you want to eat it at least let the animal defend itself and see who wins.
I think that is one of the reasons why we humans are getting so FAT we do not have to effort at all to survive.

As a person who loves dogs I do believe that dogs including all other animals should have rights. Although my question is what kind of rights would we propose when such rights are already in action. Sure animals are abused on a day to day basis but on a level that is difficult to detect. Any abuse that is detected is reported to the police by genuinely caring people that also care about animals. And although these animals are saved from their owners, these same animals ultimately and unfortunately end up being "put down" due to being too late or not all people are willing to adopt such animals. Furthermore this is just at a societal level as food industries also partake in what some people argue as a form of "legal animal abuse" through there process of yielding a product from animals such as cows. To make things clear I am by no means a vegan and mainly eat meat in almost all of my meals. And I do believe that all animals should have rights but the largest issue for me to ask is how much more can we do? If animal abuse is already illegal in the United States or if animal abuse is culturally and politically accepted in other places than what more can be done? These are unfortunately answers that I can not answer as this issue seems to be much more complex then what some may think. Some form of animal abuse may always exist as humans have either always been selfish or need some sort of meat based food in their diet due to culture or even health. Of course I do support animal rights but I am also contemplating between what we can do vs. what we want to do. So until all people in all cultures change their diets and their selfish desires then animals could most likely be claimed as "Free".

We have been hunting and eating animals since the very beginning of mankind for survival for essential needs. Personally I love eating meat and chicken, I believe these foods are rich in protein, amino acids, etc. The only times I believe these animals should be killed are for human consumption. It is survival of the fittest and animals eat other animals to survive and so forth. At the same token do animals deserve rights? I believe they do for multiple reasons. Animals feel pain the same way we do, we should not mistreat animals or hurt them because it is morally wrong. For instance if you own a dog, you would treat your pet with the upmost respect and would not like it to get harmed; the same rule applies for other animals as well. Some people have dog fights, while others kill animals for no reason. Animal abuse is definitely wrong, and for this reasons animals should not be abused. They have rights to be free and be treated with care. Animals have rights and they deserve them to the fullest, because they are creatures that have grown with us since the beginning of mankind.

Yes I am a meat eater, I will never deny that. And I do believe animals have rights just as we humans do as well. We are no one to take away their life, only because they cannot speak does not mean that they do not have feelings as well. If you want to take away an animal’s life then do it with your bare hand not with a gun or weapons because they don’t use any. But then again I am the type of person that will wear fur just because I like it as well as leather, but before I do buy it or try it on I do wonder where did it come from? What, and how many animals did they kill to make just one coat or one bag, I do have second thoughts before buying something like that. I personally hate animal abuse with a passion if I knew the only way to stop animal abuse was for me to stop eating meat I will STOP. But just one person does not make a difference and if I had my own farm no animals will die I wouldn’t be able to handle it. Call me biases or a hypocrite but no matter what people say animals DO DERSEVER RIGHTS! Because there are just important as the human population maybe even more important because at least they’re not the one destroying the world like we are.

As a pet owner I do believe that animals do have some type of rights. Now if they should have the same rights as a human being is another issue. It's wrong for a person to injure or miss treat a animal, but it maybe looked over if an animal hurts another animal. If my dog hurts a neighbor's cat that neighbor will come to me and discuss the issue. If I hurt the cat the whole city will hear about it and I would have a cool criminal nickname. Some animals should have rights if we benefit from that animal like cows, chickens, fish, ect. This topic should be discussed in what type of scenario is happening. But my answer is YES, animals should have rights to a certain extent.

Animal rights has been a highly discussed topic for sometime now. as a pet owner i absolutely believe that animals should have rights. I find it so cruel that just because they can't think for themselves the way we can ( or at least that's what we see). they don't deserve to have rights... now i always ask myself this. why is it that its o.k to kill a poor defenseless animal but people freak out when its a human that is killed? in the end aren't we all just animals just from a different species? what makes us the superior species?
