I wouldn’t consider Wiki-Leaks a necessarily bad source, but they certainly are not accurate. It revealed political information that the media did not. If people want to believe it, or not, they should have the freedom to do so. Everyone has different opinions and nowadays the Internet reveals so many facts (both true and false) about politicians that we can never know what the actual truth is. We must use our own sense of judgment and knowledge to come up with an opinion. I understand that politics is a very sensitive and significant topic, which is why I believe that people should have access to all the information on a particular topic and/or politician, whether it be good or bad. Too many things are hidden in our society. Wiki-leaks went a little too far when they stole documents, but at least they revealed information that society was trying to hide from the public.

I agree with the site wikileaks. The information wasn’t always credible but that is a different story and it was the viewer’s choice to believe what they read or not. They stood up and gave citizens more information than the local media would ever give. Wikileaks also put information out there that no other source of media would dare release. The whole world of politics is one that is made up of a very intricate web of lies each covering each other. Politicians go to great lengths to keep their dirty laundry from being aired because it will likely be the end of their career.

I don’t know what happened to my first blog comment. Somehow, it got deleted.

Anyway, I feel that Wiki-Leaks provide a great source of materials that not the main stream media provide. It is up to individual who have time to read this classified information and make their own judgment. Also, I think politician used this to their advantage for making a stand and use this to mobilize their base. The sad part, Julian Assange, the founder, now is being prosecuted on a premise of sexual assaults in Sweden. In which I think is totally bogus. Wiki-Leaks is just another voice out there, whether you support it or not. If the US government is able to shut down Wiki-Leaks by any means possible, then I guess there goes out our freedom of press.

I would like to add that what happened to Wiki-Leaks is just tragic. Everyone, I mean everyone from the US Government not just military but also elected officials, US Media, and others are targeting Wiki-Leaks. This is just sad.

The situation involving the Wikileaks website is a touchy subject for political leaders and government officials not necessarily because of national security but because what was posted on the website was compromising to the individuals involved. The question is was it illegal? Maybe. But this situation could have all been avoided if politicians & governmental figures were more open with information that the citizens of their country should have a right to know about. The individuals behind Wikileaks all they did was publish information, there only mistake was that it involved THE MAN & BIG BROTHER!!!

Normally, I'm all in favor of more information to the citizenry, but it's hard for me to see any good in this release. If Manning did this leak, he should be prosecuted and punished, But we should also be concerned with the system architects who designed a system that allowed a PFC to download and release thousands of classified communications.
We could use alot more light brought on by investigative reporting in many ways. My impression so far is these leaks serve to highlight the complexities of the world which we are engaged with and the difficult yet outstanding job this administration is doing behind the scenes to develop a way through for us as a nations which serves our interests and the greater good. Also serves to highlight the absolute hippocracy of the Republicans and their stance of reflexsively opposing everything President Obama does in an all out effort to defeat him at any cost. Makes one wonder whether regaining power is more important to them than the interests and security of our nation.

p.s... sorry, the previous comment under ananymous was mines.

I can see that one of the big problems is that some of the new technology today could actually lead us into harmful situations with the U.S. Government. I really have no clue how our legislative bodies are going to actually draw the lines. It really is going to be impossible to decide where freedom of speech ends, and where we protect the citizens of our country.
To laugh and joke around is fine, however, if these outlets for communication actually can influence the outcomes of elections that is another worry. In the case of technology... as we move to the future I beleive that he who controls the internet wins. This is eventually moving to corporate and world domination.
Technically, Google is in some sense controlling a lot of what the world does, sees and thinks.
Wikileaks is an example of a powerful information source which can capture public attention, and steer american viewpoints on politics. I do not expect that these information sources can be effectively regulated without entirely revamping the constitution.

I believe that wiki-leak is a great way to even the amount of information, that is being collected on us the individual. It’s not fair that all this information is gathered by the government on us but we are not allowed to know about their dirty secrets. And the only way the there could possibly be a leak in anything is if the government has become overstuffed with secrets and can’t control the amount that is spilling out. They still have plenty of secrets to hide from us. And maybe by us knowing exactly what type of under the table deals are being done, we as citizens can feel little safer, about our decisions to vote for certain politicians and Bills. It does get a pretty out of hand, but what press, freedom of speech or government conspiracy doesn’t? The line between decent information and too much has always been a touchy subject , that has been greatly discussed.

Years ago, the major source of leaks came from spies chatting inside the bathrooms, bedrooms, and beauty salon. Today, it’s come from the Internet. The negative aspect about Wiki-leaks is that it fells on negligent hands and irresponsible newspaper’s cartel who does not make a distinction between legitimate secrets and the abusive damaging the diplomatic duties. The secret cables are necessary in the relation among countries. As a result of the leaks many authorities from Arab governments were exposed to revenge because their support to the US in the Iran issue. The global leaders has the right to secrecy and confidential communication pursuing assistance and security to their people. Who takes advantage by these leaks? Mainly the terrorists, hackers and the media who partners to them manipulating, and making profit from information illegally acquired.

I am not too familiar with this topic, but from a shallow and brief view of all this information and opinions, it seems to me like those targeting the website are doing it because they feel threaten in a way, maybe the fear of having a truly unbias media source which actually reaches a great deal of the population. No ultimate authority to decide on the editing of information, is completely free..seems like their worse nightmare to me. Also, as many people commented, is up to the audience to decide wether they believe the information or not. It seems very similar to the tobbaco industry principle the government continue to rely on which is that they are free to put out for sale a harming substance but, the people are free to choose wether they want to buy it or not, however when it comes to them being harm now that principle of american freedom does not apply, hipocritical.

Wikileaks is something that everyone should be aware of. I do not agree with politicians hidding information from the society. I agree with the fact that we all should know about everything that happens within our environment and society .

Stealing those documents might not been the best idea to do but maybe that is the only way for people like us to realize and to understand that there is a lot of information out there that we dont know and thanks to this website we know .

Wikileaks is a controversial topic because it show us what th government think about the others presidents, etc. Maybe, it is going to affect US goverment but its going to answer some of our question. i dont think Wikileaks is illegal because He didnt steal any papers, and someone gave him that information. I dont know if this source is credible or not, but I believe it. NASA was announcing a documental after the wikileaks event, but why now? do they try to confuse americans? maybe US government is scared. are wikileaks true? i think so
