Prostitution is on the list of problems that are inevitable. It has been around for centuries, which obviously states that there is nothing that can be done about it. Some women are affected by their environment which forces them into prostitution. In other words, it is not always the individual’s choice. I’ve watched several documentaries about prostitution in which social and environmental constraints were the cause of prostitution. There were several adolescent females whose mother’s and aunts were already prostitutes. Prostitution was there only source of income. School was denied, and jobs were not available. Some women engage in prostitution because of their uncontrollable desires for sex. Only a small amount of women falls into this category. Although prostitution can’t be solved completely, society can improve the avoidance of it. Laws have been made and enforced in the past and present, but is not solving the problem of prostitution. I think society should take this problem more seriously for it to diminish completely. .

I agree with Kevaris that certain environmental factors push individuals into sexual exploitation. Often, victims are both physically and psychologically vulnerable. They generally lack the strength and willpower to run away because they think that their suffering is inescapable.
Well, it isn't.
I disagree with Kevaris about the lack of personal choice these people have. They can forgo the potential profit of the sex industry and find other jobs. For goodness sake, janitorial work is more dignified than this!
The government needs to raise awareness of this social problem, and rather than focus on punishing the prostitute, it should try to punish the purchaser of the service and the pimp. Victims need to carry concealed weapons with which to defend themselves in case of attack. They should also be courageous and report any incidents to the police- even if it means temporary imprisonment. There are certain unavoidable feelings of antagonism toward the law, but the government needs to turn its attention to this problem. I propose that the consequences for soliciting prostitution and for being a pimp should be harsher, including heavy fines in proportion to the profits made and up to 20 years in prison.

Prostitution is something that is being around for a long time. I personaly disagree with this situation.I believe no one have to be saling her body to survive or make money. Now we can also see a lot of womans being used to trafic drugs ect. There are countries where prostitution is ilegal but still the goverment cant control this sitution since this issue keeps happening and getting stronger and in a way is been accepted by sociaty Ex:porn. we now even have porn stars.I believe prostitution needs to be stop or controlled in a way, this is leading to death, divorces, break homes ect..

Prostitution is like drug dealing, no matter how badly society tries to stop it from happening it still continues to happen. Most women are even brought up to believe that prostitution is an uncontrollable decision that they must do it because their mother’s did it and their mother’s mothers did it. It’s hard to break the invisible chain that links the cycle together if the women involved their selves choose not to. There’s only so much help society can give before everybody begins to throw in the towel and just let life take control of them. Prostitution has even grown since the beginning, now it’s expanded to the technological world and pretty soon it’ll just become this incurable disease that feeds on vulnerable women and lead them to believe that there aren’t real jobs out there that body selling is the only means of income that they can ever have. Prostitution often leaks on the weak the ones who know they can stop the cycle but are too afraid of the outcome to do so. Even though people say that they have no choice but to go out and sell their body, they still have a choice. There are mothers out there working 2 jobs just feed their kids so yes there is choice. There’s just a choice of being strong and will powered or weak and lazy.

With a clear consciousness, Human trafficking is immorally and unethically wrong. It’s immorally wrong because it violates the law of Instrumental value, which means to use something to benefit someone. As well as the violation of the law of Categorical imperative II, the doctrine that we must treat people as ends in themselves and not merely as means to an end. However, human trafficking is pretty much a substitute for prostitution. For many believe this situation is merely beneficial for both the victim and the victimizer, because it produces more pleasure and more pleasure means it brings more happiness. On the other hand, it advocates one particular theory that ensures the promising aspect of human trafficking, known as Ethical egoism, the doctrine that what makes an action right is that it promotes one’s own best interest .Will this problem ever cease to discontinue? Sadly, no, because when looking deeper into the meaning of this theory, it implies that satisfying our happiness is most important, even if it means to do say at the expense of others. In this case, the lives of young men and women are being abducted for sexual pleasure and of course, it’s primary purpose, the money in exchange for a human being. So according to Ethical egoism, it must be right. I am merely looking through the lens of the victimizer to show the extent of such a crisis. And to bring to you a deeper understand; it is possible that we have begun this trend, from strip clubs to pornography, and have allowed it to reach to this extent.-La-Tanya

Sexual exploitation of women has been present all over the world since the beginning of times, from the age of Julius Cesar until present times. The problem now is that this type of exploitation has exceedingly grown way out of hand and has become a part of the norm. Ads, commercials, and even movies have completely become absorbed with having some sort of sexual exploitation of the female presented. There is probably nothing you can watch these days without seeing the profiteering of women. Being a woman myself, I feel this degrades females to the greatest extent. Not only are the women seeing this wrongdoing hurt, but the women who take part in this too. Prostitution, the most horrendous form of sexual exploitation of women, is the one form I believe will not be able to be stopped to an extent. As for the others, though, governments should stop taking it lightly seeing that these CAN be halted. Laws and consequences should be enacted for the sexual exploitation of women and anyone else, in that matter. Sexual exploitation can ruin our society, but if we try to stop is as much as possible, the outcome will be better.

There are two ways that a woman may become a prostitute. One possible answer is by choice; it may not have been a free choice but a last resource or simply because they are sickly ill and the sexual drive towards man is too strong to keep within a relationship. Second is by trafficking and having a complex life in which some way somehow they end up having a “pimp” and becoming prostitutes. I have just raised my two standpoints towards prostitution. Yet society rises their own; towards these life styles that some woman chose and some others are forced into. If free actions take command I would most likely say that yeah why not? It is a choice after all and if that’s what you ambition, and want for you as a woman then go ahead. As woman we make difficult choices specially when and if we seek for a fast solution when you are trying to feed kids, and provide them with shelter. It’s just like being a stripper yet being a stripper is a more legalized way to be part of a prostitution environment. Either way when and if stripping it is still the woman choice to take the money, and sleep with the man. Then why is prostitution illegal? Because is not done in a close environment, and you don’t pay taxes? In the post it says that the women that practice this have been victims of rape before and after; yet no matter how you may argue the subject it was ultimately a choice. Whether it was before or after it does not affect the fact that it was done prior own will. When it comes to trafficking is an entire different deal due to the fact that these women are being forced into a life style that they have not wanted or chosen on their own. Regardless of what the argument has been there must be an understanding that woman that go into this so called business are well aware that there are consequences when you enter this so called “business”, because if that is the last resource instead of trying to apply for a job at a restaurant as a waitress or even cleaning then you must face destiny and accept the hits and blows of reality.

As a philosopher, I dare to say it is possible to abolish human trafficking. It is logically possible and also causally possible. We can at least reduce the number of abusive cases reported. I believe we continue to suffer with these issues for many reasons. One of the reasons is because it is a business; unfortunately people will go to horrifying extremes to make money. That is one of the sickest businesses in this world. This is a problem of subjective relativism. Human traffickers approve of their actions so therefore they see it as right. They lie to women and abuse of them physically and emotionally. I believe the United Sates should absolutely raise more attention to this issue!

I completely agree with that Nicole said, prostitution is a business. That is probably the main reason why it exists in today's society. These prostitutes think this is the only way they can make an income, by degrading themselves. Unfortunately, i don't think the problem will ever go away. Even with laws that have been enforced over the years, people are to worried about making money instead of their own dignity.

Slavery is a very antique practice known, at least, since the Sumerian civilization, around 5000 BC. Until today, even though it has been formally abolished in all countries (the last one was Mauritania in 1981), it is still being illegally practiced. The famous philosopher Aristotle, among others, accepted the idea of slavery. He thought that some men were born slaves by nature. I do not agree with him but I think that it is an eternal issue and it will never end. I see that despite the incredible development the humanity already attained some problems like slavery, prostitution, harms against life, for example, exist since civilization exist. Human being are constantly developing new technologies, sciences and so on, but the multitude still remain extremely crude in matters of psychological development, which implies a deep respect for the other. I feel consternated and I think that people who are conscious of these problems should take actions, as much as they can, to stop this evil.

Prostitution is one of the social problems we have been fighting against for centuries. Many have argued that prostitution is a matter of personal choice; however others think that it is just the negative effect caused by an adverse environment. I personally think that whether you fall into this depends on both; although I believe that the final decision of going into that and keep doing it rests only on you. This theme certainly is closely related to the study of Ethics and especially to the Kantian argument of not using people as means to our ends, but as ends to themselves. Prostitution is a huge industry that will continue functioning and growing because our society in general, and this is very sad to say, keeps buying the final product one way or the other.
