I can't help but think about "Lewis' pained madman" thought experiment when I watch these videos or recollect on times when I have seen transgender people. I have always felt this pain for them, as it's almost as though they WERE "wired" wrong from the beginning. One person said they had known since they were 3 years old. It has a hint of a thought experiment in relation to Functionalism. "Mental states not only cause behavior, but they can also cause other mental states." From a young age, these kids were in the mental state of being a different gender. As functionalism states, it's evident that their behavior probably coincided with those mental states.
